Could Stone Temple Pilots be searching for another vocalist? According to the band’s former frontman, Scott Weiland, his successor, Chester Bennington, has left the group. Speaking with Alternative Nation, Weiland dropped the surprising revelation when asked what he thought about the Bennington-led band. “He’s not in the band anymore,” stated Weiland, who reiterated, “I heard he’s not in the band anymore,” when pressed to elaborate. Weiland went on to state, “[Chester’s] got a...

Pulled pork sandwiches, Empanadas, craft beer and carnival rides. It doesn’t get much better than that unless you mix in some rock bands. The last day of the Food Truck and Rock Carnival housed some roaring rock acts. The Massachusetts lads of Godsmack headlined Main Stage 1 and had some fun onstage as they cranked out new tracks “Generation Day” and their title track “1000hp.” The energy only kicked into high gear from there as they unleashed “Keep Away” which included a snippet...

But these days the group members feel like things are settled and, dare they say, normal — or as normal as possible. At the end of February 2013, STP — which formed during the mid-’80s in San Diego — fired founding frontman Scott Weiland and has continued with Linkin Park’s Chester Bennington in his place. Both parties filed suits against each other, which were settled out of court, and Bennington and the other three members of STP — brothers Robert and Dean DeLeo and drummer Eric...

The best part is STP seemed pretty cool about it. No security team swarmed him. Chester Bennington who is singing with the band now, put his arm around him and let the guy sing along. He also gave the guy a chance to say anything he wanted after the song was finished. What he says will crack you up!! Shameful! Chester said: “This guy’s really [an effing] champion right here. I’ve never seen a mother[effer] jump onstage and hang out, sing, fall backwards, and still be standing here.”

And on the ninth day, the grunge gods played. The 33rd installment of the Riverbend Festival came to a close Saturday night after nine straight days with Stone Temple Pilots, the reincarnation of the once huge '90s grunge rock outfit minus original lead singer Scott Weiland. There were mummies, puppets and fireworks too. At 5:30 p.m., boats started to cluster in the river behind the Coke Stage and people started staking out turf in the viewing areas on Riverfront Parkway. Among them was Rhea...

Despite the shade that continues to be thrown at STP since fully cutting ties with former frontman Scott Weiland, everybody in West Palm Beach on Saturday night, like the fans who have seen shows throughout the band's spring tour, knows for a fact that guitarist Dean DeLeo, bassist Robert DeLeo, and drummer Eric Kretz got the right guy when bringing the Linkin Park singer into the fold. “There’s a new energy here. It’s a lot of light,” Dean said in a phone interview a few days before...
